Colorado communities are suffering from the negative impacts of climate change. Healthy Air & Water Colorado (HAWC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working hard to ensure that all Coloradans can live healthy lives safe from wildfires, air pollution, extreme heat, drought, and more. By centering health in our pursuit of policy solutions that reduce climate pollution and improve community resilience to climate impacts, HAWC is able to ensure meaningful progress for Colorado communities, particularly for our most vulnerable community members like those with existing health issues, low income residents, frontline communities, and children.

Here are some of our recent wins:

• Raised fines for corporate polluters violating air and water pollution laws
• Created grant programs for local governments to improve wildfire mitigation, and to better fund zero-emitting buses, electric bicycles and energy efficiency projects
• Passed bills to meaningfully reduce ozone pollution and establish legacy funding for public transit with a new fee on oil and gas
• Ensured affordability and accessibility of healthier, energy-efficient home appliances, like heat pumps

Support our political work with a donation to our 501(c)(4), Healthy Air and Water Colorado Action (HAWCA). This arm of our nonprofit enables us to lobby local, state, and federal elected officials on the many policies we care most about advancing for Coloradans. While this type of donation is not tax deductible, it goes a long way in helping us pass meaningful policies.
